Help

I’ve tried this numerous times and I am pressing F2 key then pressing F9 it takes me straight to BIOS SETUP UTILITY MENU there I have gone into the Security on the top and clicked on not installed on both supervisor and user. When I have tried to get in it still comes up asking for a password at the begining.

this didn’t work for me. I get to the last line to add when I hit enter, it gives a “file/directory not found” kind of thing…
So this may be telling me that TWO of these have bad hard drives?
I only get a blinking cursor, that restarts every few seconds on one, to get to a asus pw prommpt on the other.
Any ideas?
I would HATE to toss out these babies.

And I have been trying to follow your F9 RESTORE instructions but have failed. F9 is non responsive on my notebook. I did it how you instructed me but it keeps going to the black screen where it says Safe mode, start windows normally screen which is the initial problem I am trying to resolve.

I tried thousand of complicated commands and it never worked, then I read your article and … I got my eeepc back

I m traveling and I had important data that I could not reach anymore, fearing that I would lose everything… now I m gonna do a huge back up and… find Ubuntu for netbook (never xandros again)

Hi,

I have a serious problem. I had a problem with my eee pc (files could no more open and I had the message: dcop server ….) struggling to handle the problem, I saw the “restore factory settings” option, I did not know that it will format all the data. Now my data is lost. Can some one help me to recover my data?

Hi!
I have a 900 but when I tried the settings for 900 it didn’t work. It kept saying “mounting /dev/sdb1 on /mnt-user/ failed”. Then I tried the other settings (for 701 and 904) and it worked!
I don’t know if it is because I bought mine in Europe or so, but maybe you should check it up.

Anyways, thanks a lot for having this little tutorial!
